The way learning is necessary to human intelligence, similarly, machine learning is an essential component of artificial intelligence.

Isn’t it arduous how strongly machine learning is involved in today’s era? To elaborate on how this technology is becoming increasingly present within our everyday lives. For instance, It allows Facebook to identify the user in photographs and  Siri or Alexa to understand what you say or when you book a ride and get an accurate estimated time of arrival or identify real-time credit card fraud detection you can praise machine learning for it.

Machine learning is a part of artificial intelligence, that intends to replicate intelligent human behavior like problem-solving and decision making in machines. The way learning is necessary to human intelligence, similarly, machine learning is an essential component of artificial intelligence. 

To be more precise machine learning is the capability of a machine to learn on its own without being programmed i.e not manually programming or commanding it with steps. The machine learning algorithms examine data, recognize patterns and discover to make conclusions or perform tasks on their own. Using large amounts of data, a machine is prepared to identify pictures, or speech patterns, etc.

According to Tom Mitchell  “Machine learning is responsible for the revolution in technological vision. It’s responsible for the revolution in speech recognition. It’s responsible for self-driving cars,”. keeping his statement in mind over the last ten years, computers have gone from not being able to look at a photograph and recognize it to being able to do that today in a way at the same level as a human. Likewise, computers were termed deaf you couldn’t talk to it because speech recognition was unavailable. Today, speech recognition is high-level through machine learning.

Through machine learning,  showing the system different images of a person, the program recognizes features and patterns that distinguish one face from any other. Eventually, the computer is able to identify that face in a photograph on its own. This method of image recognition capability comes handy in the case of helping doctors diagnose and treat patients. With the help of the machine-learning algorithm, the machine looks at a skin blemish and detect whether it’s skin cancer and of what type. It was done through a process where hundreds of images of moles and other marks were shown to the machine so it learns how to spot key differences. 

 As the machine learns from data, most businesses that need to make important decisions and contains a large number of data to analyze are good applicants for machine learning. This technology is already proving vital in many industrial sectors like oil and gas, retail and financial services. Whereas in transportation, machine learning is utilized to teach self-driving cars to identify a pedestrian crossing the road, or to brake and accelerate safely. 

The idea of machine learning and artificial intelligence may urge machines taking away jobs and replacing humans in the workplace. But if we look through machine learning will actually enhance existing jobs rather than replacing them. It will assist workers with various tasks and thereby allow them sufficient time to do other parts of their jobs.
